We Sell No Equipment — So We Cannot Compete With You

LOLER Examination for Equipment Suppliers and Dealers

For dealers, distributors and installers whose customers need the plant examined after it is delivered. Every machine you supply that lifts a load or a person carries a statutory examination duty for the buyer from the moment it goes into service, and most suppliers have no inspection arm. We examine and report. We sell no equipment, hire, spares or repairs, and we do not approach your customers.

Engineering Approach

What our supplier examination programme delivers

Independent, defensible statutory examination by an engineer with deep hands-on plant experience.

  • We supply no equipment of any kind, so a defect we record can never be a quotation for a replacement — and we are not a competitor you are handing a customer list to
  • We do not approach your customers. Reports are issued to whoever you nominate, in your format or ours
  • Examination after installation or assembly on site, which is the duty most often missed on newly delivered plant — Regulation 9 requires equipment whose safety depends on its installation to be examined before it is put into service
  • Six-monthly for anything that lifts people and for all lifting accessories, twelve-monthly for goods-only plant, tracked from your delivery date rather than from whenever somebody remembers
  • We hold the customer's equipment register and next-due dates and contact them before the examination falls due, so kit you supplied does not lapse and come back to you as a complaint
  • Digital Report of Thorough Examination with photographs, issued the same day against a trade convention of 28 days

How it works for suppliers

You supply the equipment; we look after the examinations:

  • You tell us about the delivery: customer, site, equipment and delivery date
  • We examine before first use: where the equipment's safety depends on how it was installed or assembled
  • Reports go where you say: to you, to the customer, or both, the same day with photographs
  • We keep the dates: and remind the customer before each examination is due

We sell no equipment, hire, spares or repairs, and we do not approach your customers.

The examination most often missed

LOLER 1998 Regulation 9 requires equipment whose safety depends on its installation to be thoroughly examined after installation and before it is put into service. On newly delivered plant that examination is the one most often missed, because everyone assumes new means certified.

Assets We Examine

Asset classes covered under our supplier examination programme.

Handling Equipment

Vacuum lifters, manipulators, lifting trolleys and bespoke handling rigs. Purpose-built plant is frequently assumed to sit outside LOLER because it does not look like a crane — if it lifts a load, it does not.

Hoists & Chain Blocks

Electric and manual hoists, chain blocks and runway systems, including units supplied loose for a customer's own installation.

Platform Lifts & Accessibility Plant

Platform lifts and stairlifts supplied into commercial premises. They carry people, so they sit on the six-monthly cycle rather than the twelve-monthly one that buyers often assume.

Lifting Accessories

Slings, chains, shackles, eyebolts and below-the-hook tackle at six-monthly intervals. The shortest interval you supply, the lowest value per item, and the one customers lose track of fastest.

Forklifts & Telehandlers

Counterbalance trucks, reach trucks and telehandlers — twelve-monthly as supplied, six-monthly from the moment a work platform or man-cage is fitted.

Common Questions

Questions from Equipment Suppliers

Will you compete with us?

No. We supply no equipment, hire, spares or repairs, so we are not a competitor you are handing a customer list to.

Will you approach our customers?

No. Reports go to whoever you nominate and we do not market to your customers.

Does new equipment need examining before use?

Usually, yes. LOLER requires a thorough examination before equipment is first used, unless it is new with a declaration of conformity made in the twelve months before it goes into service, or comes from another business with evidence of its last thorough examination. Where its safety depends on how it is installed or assembled, it also needs one after installation and again at each new site, whatever paperwork it came with.

How quickly are reports issued?

The same day, digitally, with photographs.

Can reports be in our format?

Yes, or ours, with everything LOLER Schedule 1 requires.

Do you remind customers when examinations are due?

Yes, so equipment you supplied does not lapse and come back to you as a complaint.

What areas do you cover?

London, Kent and the South East.
