Engineering Approach

What our subcontracted examination programme delivers

Independent, defensible statutory examination by an engineer with deep hands-on plant experience.

  • HSE expects the competent person to be sufficiently independent and impartial to make objective decisions — subcontracting the examination is the cleanest way to evidence that
  • We sell no maintenance, repairs, spares or replacement plant, so a defect we record is never a quotation in disguise
  • We do not approach your clients. The relationship stays yours, and reports are issued to whoever you nominate
  • Digital Report of Thorough Examination with photographs, issued the same day in your client-facing format or ours — where the trade convention is 28 days
  • Portfolio scheduling across London and the South East, seven days a week, 6am to 6pm
  • Six-monthly cycles for passenger-carrying plant and twelve-monthly for goods-only, tracked against your contract dates rather than ours

How it works

You keep the client and the maintenance. We carry out the examination and report to you:

  • You send the schedule: sites, lifts and due dates, from your contract records
  • We examine: at times that suit your engineers and your clients, seven days a week
  • You get the report: the same day, with photographs, in your format or ours
  • Defects come to you: so the remedial quote is yours, not ours

We never contact your clients, and we sell no maintenance, repairs or parts.

Why separate the examination

HSE expects the competent person to be independent and impartial enough to make objective decisions. A maintainer examining its own work is a weak position if anything goes wrong. Subcontracting the examination gives your clients that separation without handing over the relationship.

Common Questions

Questions from Lift Companies

Will you approach our clients?

No. Reports go to whoever you nominate, and we never contact your clients about maintenance, repairs or anything else.

Do you quote for remedial work?

No. We sell no maintenance, repairs, spares or replacement plant. Defects come to you to quote.

Can reports be in our format?

Yes, or ours. Either way they contain everything LOLER Schedule 1 requires.

How quickly are reports issued?

The same day, digitally, with photographs.

Can you cover a whole portfolio?

Yes, across London, Kent and the South East, scheduled against your contract dates.

Do you examine all makes?

Yes. We are independent of every manufacturer and maintainer.

Why would a lift company subcontract the examination?

To show the independence HSE expects of the competent person, and to keep your engineers on maintenance and repair work rather than examinations.
